Located in the heart of America, the Mid-America Air Museum boasts the fifth largest collection of military and civilian aircraft in the United States. Liberal, once home to a major Beech Aircraft manufacturing facility and a B-24 Liberator pilot training base during World War II, established the museum to help preserve a proud local and national aviation heritage. It is a vision started by Colonel Tom Thomas, Jr., who has donated his personal collection of over 50 planes to the museum. The museum houses one of the country's finest hands-on aviation science exhibits, hosts special events like air shows and an aviation camp, presents guest speakers, and features aerospace education programs for students in its 200-seat theater. So, whether you're an aeronautic enthusiast, history buff, or just a family with kids who love airplanes, the Mid-America Air Museum has something for you.
